Mr. Mehboob ul Haq
I think you must explain here in the forum because do not have time to come pay you. I will come pay you for my lessons and also will take the unfinished pending lessons from last year.

You are a good coach. Keep up the good work. I can also bring you some students with some understanding.

You do not use volleys to trick your opponents. You can wrong foot them if the situation is right.

You do not volley from the Baseline unless you are caught unguard.

Volleys are generally hit from the Service line or close to the net.

Grip Continental
Blocking motion
No backswing but follow through
If the ball is fast and hard simply block it
Less is enough on volleys

How to employ them? When rallying from the Baseline you keep the ball deep to get a short reply:
If the short ball is to your Forehand you hit an approach shot deep down the line and follow your ball to the net to volley in the open court or hit behind your opponent if he is moving to cover the open court.

If the short ball is to your Backhand (left zone) you hit a deep approach shot down the line and follow your ball to the net to hit your volley in the open court or hit behind your opponent if he is moving to his left to cover the open court.

There are special drills to train these volleying situations.

I hope I have answered your questions.

Let's stick to the topic.

Here's the Semifinal of 1985 Australian Open. Both the players are doing Serve and Volley but no one has volleyed from the Baseline. The first Volley is hit around the T area and the 2nd more inside.

Bhaijan my question is WHEN and HOW to do a successful volley from baseline not if it is to be done as first option. I do not think you have enough experience on this subject so i will ask anyone else to answer.

By the way watch this video of NOVAK. Only he can accomplish this baseline volley. Live and learn.

Problem with Pakistani people is they never admit to learn anything new and thats why circling in same old same old

I did answer this:

You do not volley from the Baseline unless caught off guard. In this case Novak did a half volley as the ball came to him quick. This is not a standard practice.

Swinging volley is a different case altogether. In some cases if the player has insufficient time for a regular ground stroke after the bounce, he can play the ball in the air, before the ball bounce, this is called Swinging volley. We are discussing conventional volley here.
